Title: Inventory Trans. lookup from Inv Iquiry Screen Post by Mike_Vader on 09/02/03 at 12:30:54 I would really like to see access to the inventory transactions from the Inquiry screen. Many times it is necessary to review the settings and situation of a particular item and if something looks wrong... to look up the transactions. Mike 8) |

Title: Re: Inventory Trans. lookup from Inv Iquiry Screen Post by Bill Lee on 09/18/03 at 10:26:07 We had this feature in our previous system (BPCS from SSA on an IBM AS/400) and we used it constantly. We really missed it when we converted to DBA. Bill Lee |
Title: Re: Inventory Trans. lookup from Inv Iquiry Screen Post by Lynn_Pantic on 10/10/03 at 11:00:01 I am planning to add 2 buttons to the IN-A screen - Usage and Transactions. The transactions button would display transactions of the item, starting with the most recent. The USAGE button is a bit trickier, I need some feedback. First, I would consider "Usage" to be a transaction that consumed an item - a Shipment, Issue to Work Order or Purchase direct for Work Order. What about Adjustments? Negative only or all? Second, do we want to display monthly usage? How far back? I have one custoemr who wants 5 numbers - monthly average usage based on last 3 months, last 6 months, last 9 months and last 12 months plus annual total based on last 12 months. Another likes each of the last 12 months listed separately. Any other suggestions? |
Title: Re: Inventory Trans. lookup from Inv Iquiry Screen Post by Mike_Vader on 10/10/03 at 12:17:04 I wouldn't want to include the adjustments at all in the usage. The main reason I would look at usage is to get run rate and to see if a problem exists in the consumption from work orders. Monthly usage would be extremely useful. If it displayed the last three months usage ie Past 30, Past 60 and Past 90 - that would be very useful. Coming from the electronics industry - nothing stays the same from 1 quarter to the next monthly trakcing would be the only way for us to build a runrate that s meaningful. Sounds great - I am very enthusiastic about this solution!! :) |
Title: Re: Inventory Trans. lookup from Inv Iquiry Screen Post by David Waldmann on 10/14/03 at 04:34:57 I would not want adjustments in in Usage either. I think that 3, 6 & 12 months would suit us fine. I'm a little confused about the "annual total based on last 12 months" though. Maybe I'd want it if I knew what it was.... |
Title: Re: Inventory Trans. lookup from Inv Iquiry Screen Post by Lynn_Pantic on 10/14/03 at 06:00:51 The annual total would be the total usage for the year (as opposed to a monthly figure) |
Title: Re: Inventory Trans. lookup from Inv Iquiry Screen Post by Mike_Vader on 10/14/03 at 07:53:33 Annual usage would be useful as well. Would that be something that you could synchronize for a starting date or would it be Today-365 days? |
Title: Re: Inventory Trans. lookup from Inv Iquiry Screen Post by Lynn_Pantic on 10/14/03 at 08:05:14 I plan for the monthly totals to be for completed calendar months up through the month immediately prior to the current one, so the easiest annual number would be the total of 12 calendar months through the end of last month. Unless somebody has a good reason not to use that approach. |
Title: Re: Inventory Trans. lookup from Inv Iquiry Screen Post by Mike_Vader on 10/14/03 at 09:37:01 That sounds great Lynn. So we would be able to look at each of the last 12 months independently and the aggregate total? |
Title: Re: Inventory Trans. lookup from Inv Iquiry Screen Post by kevind on 10/14/03 at 12:09:51 Lynn, This would be great! :D We implemented this same usage info in our old system we maintained the software on. You would make a couple of people here happier ;D I agree that adjustments should not be included. Having said that, What would be the proper way to relieve inventory of an item that is used for something that does not have a work order associated with it. For example, if we needed some components to build a prototype. Currently, we adjust these out on the "White Sheet". I would rather do something else. |
Title: Re: Inventory Trans. lookup from Inv Iquiry Screen Post by tcook on 10/22/03 at 04:45:11 Monthly usage going back 1 year would be very helpful for us. This would make alot of people very happy! The adjusments would be good to see, maybe a separate button? Tara Cook APA, Inc. |
Title: Re: Inventory Trans. lookup from Inv Iquiry Screen Post by Lynn_Pantic on 10/27/03 at 13:47:34 The 10/31 update will include 2 new buttons on the IN-A screen - one for Transactions and one for Usage. |

Title: Re: Inventory Trans. lookup from Inv Iquiry Screen Post by Chris@Highlight on 12/04/03 at 09:13:27 I love the idea of the "Usage" button in IN-A. But it does not seem to be displaying accurate numbers. I have calculated manually using the actual transactions for a few items and can't seem to get even close to the same result. What is included in this calculation and when is the calculation made? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks! CHRIS |
Title: Re: Inventory Trans. lookup from Inv Iquiry Screen Post by Lynn_Pantic on 12/04/03 at 09:52:00 It is the total of I, M, S and J transactions for the month. There was a DBA bug fixed in the IS Tech 12/1 update that the M transactions for Lot Controlled components were saved with the wrong sign (as negative numbers rather than positive) which would obviously affect the Usage calculation. If this applies to you, download the update and run MFIXTXN |
