Title: Simulated Picklist Post by Mike_Vader on 11/18/03 at 10:21:37 Just a thought for something that might be useful. Could we have a simulated picklist program? It would be great that instead of creating work orders and deleting them - if we could enter a part, enter the quantity, and have the picklist come up with shortage amounts. ::) |
Title: Re: Simulated Picklist Post by aricon on 11/18/03 at 10:30:20 We have actually been requested to provide an estimate by a customer for doing this functionality in an MS Access program. If there were to be more people interested, we would be able to spread the cost among all interested parties. Let me know. |
Title: Re: Simulated Picklist Post by Mike_Vader on 11/18/03 at 10:32:56 Hi Lorne, Actually, I think I could build that in MS Access too, but I was looking for a quick, live, utility in DBA. Thanks anyways, Mike |
Title: Re: Simulated Picklist Post by Lynn_Pantic on 11/18/03 at 15:02:35 Mike - Would BM-D do what you want IF (big if, I know) it worked right? Fixing it is on my never ending list of fixes and patches for programming to get to. |

Title: Re: Simulated Picklist Post by shadowcaster on 12/22/03 at 12:57:35 what is wrong with BM-d ? I use it some times and it seems to work am I missing something JW |
Title: Re: Simulated Picklist Post by Lynn_Pantic on 12/22/03 at 14:30:32 For a simple single level BOM it works ok. For a multi-level, if there are sufficient subassemblies on hand, it still generates a shortage list of the components of the subassemblies as if they needed to be built. It also indicates shortages of Phantom assemblies rather than bypassing them and looking at their components. And as I recall when I was working on the programming specs to fix it, there were other issues as well regarding how to treat other allocations and future demand against components as contributing to the potential shortage. |
Title: Re: Simulated Picklist Post by Mike_Habich on 12/23/03 at 08:06:26 A really nice enhancement for BOM availability is to add columns for PO number and release quantities and dates. This lets you look at a BOM and see what you need and when you'll have it. |
