Title: Who and when a WO was created Post by jwalden on 04/19/04 at 07:50:34 I've had a request to record the date/time and user ID of the person who converts or creates a work order and tie this information to the WO. |
Title: Re: Who and when a WO was created Post by aricon on 04/19/04 at 07:53:01 Cannot be done. DBA does not have the ability to know what user is logged in after they log in. That information is used ONLY at the time of login in order to establish menu access and then it is gone. And since that is part of the core TAS executable, it cannot be changed. |
Title: Re: Who and when a WO was created Post by Chris@Highlight on 05/20/04 at 06:27:52 I had this same problem with an xBase system that I was tasked with maintaining years ago. The solution was fairly simple, assuming that TAS has a way to access DOS environmental variables. At the time of login, create an environmental variable with the users initials or ID or whatever tag you want to use. (We wrote a small program in C that polled Novell and Microsoft networks User IDs) You could also create a global variable that could be referenced when needed. Now create a line in the notes field with the user ID and a time/date stamp each time the work order (and a short description of change) is changed and saved. It is not exactly a transaction tracking system, but it got the info needed for reference purposes. Just an idea. |
Title: Re: Who and when a WO was created Post by aricon on 05/20/04 at 07:45:43 Chris, Might be workable (I'll let the programmer comment more in depth on that) but here is a use case scenario that kinda throws it out of whack: User X logs into the client station and then into DBA. The environment variable (if that works) stores that info. Good so far. User Y comes along and changes the login in DBA to THEIR login and the environment variable records user X again as it is reading the network login info. |
Title: Re: Who and when a WO was created Post by Lynn Pantic on 06/25/04 at 10:09:22 We have worked out a way using TAS 6 Evo to track DBA Login so that change tracking can be maintained and will be implementing it in various programs. It will require the TAS 6 Evolution menu, the standard DBA menu can not do this. |
Title: Re: Who and when a WO was created Post by shadowcaster on 06/30/04 at 08:15:10 this sounds like a reason to switch to the TAS 6 version JW |
