Title: DBA problem after restore 100% cpu usage
Post by rvining on 05/13/04 at 08:24:24

I had to restore DBA from a backup and now for some reason the cpu usage is always 100% on the server which makes everything run very slow. Restoring dba is the only thing that i did. I renamed the old folder and restored dba into a folder of the same name and shared it.

im not sure this is even a dba problem but the system was fine untill i restored dba and users started to login. Does anyone have any sugestions?

Thanks.

I had a 100% usage issue last week at home. It was the
"Sasser Worm"  Have you check for that?

One thing you could check is the Task Manager.  Do CTRL-ALT-DEL, and click on task manager.  At the top is a tab for Processes.  This will tell you what process is using how much of the CPU and memory.  You should be able to tell if any of your applications are hogging cpu.

check your utilization while at a empty screen then with IN-A open.  I have noticed my utilization goes to 100% when ever I'm in that screen or a couple of others.  I think it has something to do with how TAS is monitoring key strokes since it's an interpreted language.  Since there are no keystokes to look for at the opening screen, utilization is low.  when ever TAS loads a .RUN file, utilization goes to 100%.

If you look in your task manager.  you'll see a process called tp5win.exe sucking up all the resources. right click on it and make sure the priority is set to normal. Windows with then throttle the process when other apps need time.

I have notices it doesn't occure with EVO.  They must have fixed the polling problem in the TAS6 interpretor.

Tim,

You are correct that T6 does not misreport CPU usage the way T5 did.
