Has anyone overcome DBA's lack of handling item effectivity dates and if so, how?

Can this be accomplished through enhancements?

I would also like to see contract price effective date. Our sales department frequently issues contract prices with future effective dates

I am surprised that this hasn't been a bigger issue with the users. This is something I would see as a major improvement within DBA.

Anyone else?
