Title: BM-A sort by part number Post by Vman on 11/18/04 at 11:37:46 I would like to be able to auto sort a BOM by part number. Currently, the Auto Assign Line Numbers feature only seems to do this if all the line numbers are zeros. Once line numbers have been assigned, the only way you can get them into P/N sequence is manually. |
Title: Re: BM-A sort by part number Post by aricon on 11/18/04 at 12:25:18 Let me bring up something for your consideration for this..... Suppose that someone uses alpha part numbers? Or even more fun, mixed (some are alpha, some numeric), or even fully mixed (some alpha, some numeric, some alphanumeric)? How should the logic sort it then? Almost anything that is programmed will not work for a percentage of users. Just something to think about.... |
Title: Re: BM-A sort by part number Post by Vman on 11/19/04 at 13:26:01 It could use the same logic that DBA uses for other alphanumeric sorts (numbers then letters, if I remember correctly). In my company, we do not have bin locations for most of our parts, so they are stored in sequence. If the BOM, and subsequently the pick lists are in P/N sequence, it makes it easy to pull parts. Maybe just a button to reset all the line numbes to 0 then. Or possibly an easier way to move the order of items around in the BOM list. |
