Title: Estimated Shipment on Quotes Post by Vman on 02/11/05 at 05:49:53 I would like the ability to use a text field for the ship date on quotes- i.e. "2 Weeks ARO". Currently, you have to enter a specific date. |
Title: Re: Estimated Shipment on Quotes Post by Karen Mason on 02/11/05 at 10:13:59 We used modify forms and changed the spot where the date came in to a straight text line of "Quotation is valid for 30 days. Then we created a dummy quote #1 in SO-P-A. We have a lot of information we typed in the Quote Notes. I think we also modified the font so we could fit more. But it helped standardize our quote information. It shows information such as: Parts supplied: Forged, trimmed, and cleaned. Material grade: ______(whatever it is)____ Die design & development: 50% due with order, etc, etc, etc, I include the estimated delivery also. This works really well for us and you can modify the quotation notes as needed. |
Title: Re: Estimated Shipment on Quotes Post by Vman on 02/11/05 at 14:24:20 Good ideas, but the problem that I sometimes run into, especially with overseas cusomers is that they try to hold you to the estimated ship date on the quote, even when they send you the PO the day before. Right now, I put a date in the quote and then use the notes to annotate the lead time. It would be simpler if instead of putting in a date (although this does make converting the quote easier from a DB standpoint), you could say somehing like 2 week ARO (after receipt of order). Another option I am considering is converting the quote to PDF (which is normally the format we use when we email them), and editing it (we have Acrobat). |
Title: Re: Estimated Shipment on Quotes Post by Karen Mason on 02/12/05 at 04:38:46 Yes, that is what we do in the quote notes: Estimated delivery: 6-8 weeks after receipt of order And if upfront money is required then we just add on that stipulation also-the clock starts ticking when receive BOTH the order and the money. |
