Title: Error 94 on copied installation
Post by Mike_Habich on 02/24/05 at 10:28:34

Pervasive Workgroup 2000i SP3 (not client-server)

I'm moving the "server" (runs workgroup engine, has data) to a new machine.  I'm getting Btrieve error 94, which suggests sharing/permissions/file location problem.  Pervasive workgroup engine is running.  Pervasive and DBA splash screens appear.

So far:
--installed the workgroup engine
--shared and mapped local drive
--copied DBAMFG folder
What am I missing?

Thanks,
Mike

I did do workstation install.

The original machine was running workgroup engine when I installed on the new machine.  Now, with the original machine turned off, the new machine gives error 116 after the splash screens and a long wait.

Aha! 116 says that there's another machine running engine...look in troubleshooting doc in DBAMFG, find that gateway machine is defined in ~pvsw.loc~...delete (including in subdirectories), run gateway.exe, reboot, all happy now.

Thanks for listening...

Yes, that is the easiest kind of Tech Support!!!  But if they were all that easy, this forum wouldn't have 1400+ members!!!

And these posts are a great resource for somebody else next week who has the same problem.

For what it's worth, this particular problem is Workgroup only and would never occir with Client/Server.  But with Workgroup, you always want to run DBAMFG\GATEWAY.EXE on a new server when moving the installation to a new machine.
