Title: Special characters in Item Numbers Post by David Waldmann on 04/07/05 at 07:08:43 Are there any reasons that one should avoid using special characters (such as # $ & / etc) in an item number? |
Title: Re: Special characters in Item Numbers Post by aricon on 04/07/05 at 08:46:37 The only common reason relates to import/export. Special characters usully end up acting as a "stop" command in ASCII and during import/export anything after them will not be read. |
Title: Re: Special characters in Item Numbers Post by David Waldmann on 04/07/05 at 10:20:17 That's what I thought. But thanks for the confirmation. |
Title: Re: Special characters in Item Numbers Post by trutax on 04/11/05 at 09:07:47 We have 10000 items and the majority have ' and " markers (inch and feet). This was a MAJOR catastrophe when attempting to convert from DBA CLassic to DBA Next Generation (Ezijobz). Classic doesn't mind, but it's the eventual export that will be a problem. |
