Title: What file to write back tracking #
Post by JNAPIER on 04/21/05 at 11:10:00

I have set-up an ODBC interface to DBA for shipping UPS and FedEx. What file name is the tracking # DBA writes to?

Thanks,

John

Assuming you mean the Shipping tracking info in SO-E and/or SO-P-I with IS Tech updates, it is BKARDESC linked by SO Number before invoice posting and transferred to BKARHDSC linked by invoice number when the invoice posts.

John...did you get this working?  If so, what does your UPS export map look like?  I tried
UPS tracking number -> BKARDESC BK.DESC.LINE
UPS ref 2 (put SO number here) -> BKARDESC BK.DESC.NUM

Doesn't work yet.  I'm not sure how to tell the map which link is the index and which is to be written.

map should be
track no -> BKARDESC BK.DESC.NOTES
ref 2 (SO) -> BKARDESC BK.DESC.NUM
and...how to do this?
1 -> BKARDESC BK.DESC.NUM
I'll contact UPS for how to write a constant "1" instead of a field value

Forget index and stuff...everything should get written into a new record, or so it seems.  Don't know what this would do if somebody already entered SO notes line 1...

Mike,

I played with some sample exports. The problem I encountered was UPS has no Index Key field to write to the proper SO #. It wrote to the field but not to the correct SO# It looks like the ISTS popup to enter at release knows at what line to write to based on existing SO notes? It also allows you to put the carrier name in. I think the write back for ups tracking # is questionable.

I have it working by now.  Once I've tested it a bit more, I'll publish the details.

For SO, just put it in UPS Ref 2.
