Title: AR-A SHIP TO CUSTOMER?
Post by ginawendelin on 09/28/05 at 09:46:10

I have a suggestion for a future update...

I suggested this in a post back on May 12th, 2005 under the sales forum titled AR-A SHIP TO CUSTOMER?

There have been some others that responded and said they would like this feature as well.

We would like to have a pop-up box to select the customer's ship-to addresses linked to a particular bill-to. Right now if there are multiple ship to addresses associated with a bill-to then DBA just puts the bill-to address in the ship to spot in a sales order since it doesn't know which ship-to to choose.

Thanks.  :)

You have half your request as of yesterday if you're an ISTech subscriber. You can specify in SD-Q that only "Customers" that have a Bill-To address that match with the one currently entered in the SO will show up in the Lookup. You do still have to Look Up, however.

I went to SD-Q and marked Y to "Limit Ship To based on Bill To" but now when I do a look up in the Ship to field it has nothing listed eventhough the ship to records are linked to the bill to record in AR-A. Any advise on what I might be doing wrong??

Works for me, but it's not instantaneous like a regular lookup - cause it's not. Our system is pretty fast but it still takes 3-5 seconds to show the list. Give it a minute and see if it/they don't show up.

It is a filtered list so it will slow it a bit but not more than the 3-5 seconds David reports unless you have many thousands of customers.  Make sure the Ship To customers are defined as Ship To=Y in AR-A and assigned to the Bill-To in question.

Still nothing pops up in the ship-to field, even when I wait 10 seconds.  But I think I see the problem, In AR-A you can assign the billing customer code only one ship-to. Since it doesnt have the ability to list multiple ship to codes maybe thats why nothing is popping up in the ship to screen because its only limiting it to just that ship-to customer.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Either I am doing it wrong or mybe it is something that should be considered in a future update.

Thanks,

Gina

In AR-A for the SHIP TO customers, they need to be set up with the "Ship To customer" set to Y and the appropriate Bill To customer assigned to them.  Using this method, any number of Ship Tos can be associated with a single Bill To.  You are looking at the AR-A for the Bill To.  You need to be looking at the Ship to.

Okay, now I see what you are talking about. I checked and all of the AR-A Ship-to customers and they are marked as Y and have the bill-to code in them. Still no luck with the F2 lookup. It brings up the screen to search for the ship to code but there is nothing listed. When I try to exit or press esc it gives me the following error:
"Access violation at address 0040279A in module 'tp7runtime.exe'. Write of adress 00000000."

Any clues as to what is going on here?

Thanks.  :)

After checking my notes from Phoenix I still don't understand why this will not work for us.

I have all of the appropriate "Ship To Customer?" boxes marked and attached the "Bill" file accordingly in AR-A, still nothing pops up when we try to enter a sales order with multiple ship to's. If we push F2 at the ship to field it comes up with a blank box and then errors out as I stated in a previous post.

Lynn, can you please help me find the solution to this problem, obviously its just our system having issues with this.

Thanks.  :)

I like this new feature... however, we have one "customer" that has a trillon (or so it seems) locations.  they use one bill to for resale items and a different bill to for leased items.  Currently we must have 30+ accounts in AR-A just to facilitate a microscopic number of their locations.  Many orders are either new bill to or ship to locations.  (And YES, I'm happy for all the new business!!)

Do you think you could put a feature (say a password, etc.) that would allow you to "override" the limited lookup?

I really like the limited lookup however, as I mentioned above.... seems a shame to have 1 customer prevent me from using it.
