Title: Ship Via File Post by bennolk on 09/30/05 at 07:20:59 A Ship Via file containing text for the various Ship Via options would overcome the need for overriding the default Ship Via field when creating a Sales Order. |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by tdlugosh on 11/08/05 at 18:04:46 Ditto on this one. |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by David Waldmann on 11/09/05 at 04:30:31 Do you mean a restricted text field, possibly by way of a lookup? I'd go for that, especially if it was longer..... |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by wildco on 11/09/05 at 06:06:52 This would be very useful. Perhaps something like the terms table where specific types of shipping would be selected. i.e: UPS Ground UPS 2nd UPS overnight, etc. I would also suggest a space to add an account # for those customers that typically have items sent to them collect. |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by Tim Keating on 11/09/05 at 08:40:02 We would love to have this - it would allow us to map to UPS and Fedex. |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by JNAPIER on 11/09/05 at 08:53:37 I would chip in $$$$$ to get this HIGH on the list, would be way cool 8) John |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by wildco on 11/09/05 at 11:19:20 In the same vein as having defined information for the ship via, perhaps it might be wise to cosider having a set table for countries and possibly even states/provinces. This would make UPS/Fedex integration that much easier and help systemitize customer data. While we can always specify to order entry people how to put the data in, it would be better if the program did that for us (cut down on mistakes and make peoples jobs easier). |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by Tim Keating on 11/09/05 at 12:35:31 Also a good idea. |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by Lenette on 11/09/05 at 13:18:05 Hummmm I already mentioned I'd pay $$$s. Quote:

Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by Tim Keating on 11/09/05 at 14:39:49 Yes but John offered $$$$$, you only offered $$$. Maybe Lynn is holding out for $$$$$$. |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by Lenette on 11/09/05 at 19:17:51 aaaaaa, I C it's blind (wo)man's bluff.... I'm willing to ante up!!! |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by ginawendelin on 11/11/05 at 07:20:35 We would love to have that feature too, especially if the field were longer... |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by wildco on 01/06/06 at 10:24:23 We would also contribute for this one if it becomes a higher priority. Is it even possible with DBA Classic? |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by Lynn Pantic on 01/06/06 at 17:29:41 So many ideas. so little time (specifically programmer hours)... This is a good one and while $$$ (or $$$$$$$$) always helps, sometimes it is just a matter of what programs and files we are working on and what causes the programmers to trip over each other if they are trying to do different things to the same files at the same time. We have a pretty full programming plate for the next month with some new drill-down lookups we plan to unveil at the Symposium and the phase 2 of Multi-Bin (On Hand tracking by Bin within Warehouse) but later this spring we can certainly take a look at this one. Somebody asked for a bigger field - how big? |

I'd like to see at least 20 characters, 30 would be even better. |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by wildco on 01/10/06 at 06:36:46 I agree. We have to cram in shipping company, shipping mode (ground, next day, etc) and often account number in the current field. So 30 characters would be best. |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by Lenette on 01/10/06 at 07:33:14 I'd like to throw my 2 cents (or maybe even $$$) back into the pot... Even though expanding the length of the field would be nice, I would rather see additional fields added to allow for UPS automation. If you refer back to my post (this tread) on 11/09/05, you'll see that adding more field could allow for complete automation with UPS. As it stands we still have to enter payment terms, account numbers, etc. I guess it would be nice to know (besides the multiple bin features which I'm very excited about) what is on your list and approximate release dates. Maybe that will be a hand out in Phoenix? |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by Lenette on 01/10/06 at 15:18:24 I'll ante up to 2 bits... I'll recap our current method: We import shipping info into UPS via ODBC connect from DBA. The shipping person enters the SO # and it populates as many fields as possible. HOWEVER since DBA has only one field for "ship via" the MUST TYPE NOTES for Freight Collect or 3rd Party Billing instructions. We then HIGHLIGHT this info for the shipper to make adjustments to the UPS screen. Yesterday, we had 3 shipments (FC & 3rd party) that were shipped PRE-PAID IN ERROR... case in point why I'd rather have additional fields instead of one longer one! (Thank goodness my customers are understanding.) |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by wildco on 01/11/06 at 10:02:20 We have the same problems as Lennette with this issue. UPS can import certain data but not everything, and if the ship via and account number are not entered properly, it can be an expensive mistake. Also, it would be nice if the countries and states/provinces were selected from a drop-down box (similar to online forms). This is not nearly as important as the ship via file, however. If we can eliminate double entry by different people of the same data, our mistakes will decline and productivity will increase. |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by Lenette on 01/18/06 at 14:44:09 I'm curious.... so just how many $$$$ would bring this to the top of the list? Maybe it could be a paid add-on feature for those that REALLY REALLY REALLY want it NOW. |
Title: Re: Ship Via File Post by Vman on 01/19/06 at 05:39:53 On a related item, how about adding Incoterms? |
