If I had a button that would let me edit a bom or edit the item right from IN-A I would be a Happy Guy

If that happens, there needs to be a way to disable the button. We give a lot of people access to IN-A for lookup purposes, but do not want them altering info.

I agree. IN-A is a great tool for finding out info, and everyone here uses it frequently. However, if write access is allowed from IN-A it should have a feature to disable it, as people may need to find out information but should not be able to change it in many instances.

IN-A is for Display Only.. if we do anything it would be in IN-B. And we will most likely do it.. ;)

The problem using INB is you cant see all the good info that you can in INA

like usage transactions ect

so when Im adjusting item info I have to switch between in-a in-b boms and routings.

an all in 1 master screen with direct editing would do it. :-)

I like having IN-A be a view screen HOWEVER, I agree w/ shadowcaster that when you are fixing / adjusting/ correcting / ya da ya da ya... that having a one stop shop would be wonderful. Could the IN-A features be added to IN-B? What about BOM editing?

I picture it as an edit button on the keyboard not the screen
but it works on every screen.

When we have drill down we will be able to drill down to the source of a problem or info needed effortlessly moving from one module into another

whatever your looking at you can press the edit button and your there

invisible to all but a select few :-)

that's my DBA dream no dead end screens

its late time to go home

That I can do... BUT editing will be at your own risk.. if you edit a qty on a SO it will not go and recalc the total ext of the line or the total $ for the order.. but the editing can be done in drill down mode and we can limit it to security levels..

sales orders are really never a problem its when your drilling thru an assembly and you get to the problem item and you need to adjust its bom, w/o bom routing ect

That is fine, I am just letting you know that editing will be at the users own risk, and will not do any calculations, or rollups or anything else.. It will be more akin to Maintain Database.

And only to those who are given access to it. New Security Level stuff.
