Title: user defined field in W/O
Post by deburr on 01/12/06 at 08:04:28

Lynn,

I have a need to track work orders to specific Job Leaders or supervisors. We have quality and incentive programs that are tied to each job. We also would like to be able to print the job engineer on the traveler so a supervisor or operator could seek the right individual should there be a question. These two functions are so impotant that we have circumvented the normal use of some fields in DBA to do this. We use the drawing number (which before the new "revision tracking" was pretty useless in our application) to assign the engineer to the part. We don't use job numbers so we use the job number field in work orders to track which job leader ran each work order. With the new improvement to drawing revision I would like to use the field as intended but need an field in inventory that would copy to the work order and traveler for the engineer for that part. Also a user defined text field in work orders that could be used by crystal to group work orders by supervisor would be very helpful.

Lynn,

An after thought.  IN already has one user defined field on the entry screen (MTIC_PROD_SUBST[1]). Maybe just adding entry to a couple of the other 4 fields in the array would solve half my problem (the product engineer problem.)

BTW, the reason I don't use (MTIC_PROD_SUBST[1]) for this purpose is it is being used for other sorting purposes.

Me Too!

Just wanted to cast another vote for this one. Is there a limit on how many times we can vote for a topic?  ;)
