AP-B (curent IS Tech Update) does display remittance information.  I can see some security issues involved - do you really want somebody entering manual checks to be able to edit the remit address... (hmmm send to IS Tech Support....)  Feedback - do users really want the person entering the vouchers to have editing capability?  I really think not.

What do you REALLY want to accomplish?

in our case the person that enters the vouchers also issues the checks.  i think it would solve our need for a million one time vendors (donations, etc.) to be set up.  we could use a generic vendor (ie. donations) and then edit the address when entering the voucher.  maybe it's an option such as Y, N, maybe, password, etc.

We run very lean.  The person entering vouchers and cutting checks also maintains the vendors.  To minimize the possibility of fraud, they do not have check signing rights and that person does not do the reconciliation of the checking account.

Yes, again the person entering the voucher in A/P-B also prepares the check.

Because there is no security on entering Vendors in AP-A, many times a correct address gets edited by the wrong party, and the payables person needs to exit AP-B upon noticing the wrong address displayed, and correct it in AP-A.

If editing vendors can be done in AP-B, this would save one step and increase productivity, OR is there a way security can be imposed to restrict access to entering REMIT TO ADDRESS in AP-A???

I would also like to have the remittance address password controlled for security.

I am very concerned about anyone having the ability to change addresses in AP-B.  I think changing/adding vendors or addresses must be separate from the ability to enter vouchers.

AP-B is one of the most powerful programs in the system and I think it could be easily abused (unlike POs which cannot be paid until there is a receipt to go against them).  Separating the ability to enter vendors from the ability to enter vouchers makes it much more difficult for one person to perpetrate a fraud (as now two must collude in this instance).

We run even leaner than Karen with a staff of 10 people.  In our case, the same person sets up the vendors, enters the vouchers, pays the bills, signs the check (1 of 2 signers) and reconciles the bank statement.  I know from experiences when she's gone and I do her work.... it would be nice to fix info when you're in AP-B.

Also, on the PO side.... sometimes Vendors are set up with basic info when the purcasing person make the initial contact and submits a PO.... would be nice to edit info when entering the Invoice for payment.

Again, I think a password/security option is the way to go.  It's the best of both worlds.

It should not be too hard for us to do the password stuff, but do you require multi passwords, or is it one per company?, or we could tie it to the new PS-A security level. Users with a high level security could have access to those fields.

Now what can they change?, just the address, what about the Company Name ?  and what happens if they change a vendor name that is on an existing PO?

i'd like it controlled by the logon password.

How about just making an updated version of AP-B with these added capabilities and call it AP-T. Then give access to AP-T to those who should have it and AP-B to those you want to restrict. Those using Evo could even substitute the updated program for the old one in put it in AP-B if you wanted to.

that would work for me.

Any ETA or priority given to this issue yet??

Similar thread was started in Jan. 2005 entitled MENU ACCESS CHANGES under this same category stating a large enough user base was necessary to justify the programming effort.

As we just had another case of someone changing the vendor file remit to information in AP-A, and luckily I caught it by checking EVERY REMIT TO ADDRESS before I print the A/P checks.

Thanks in advance.
