Title: Add Ability to do Cycle Counting
Post by gtladmin on 06/07/06 at 12:35:14

We do not have a good way for our Finance dept. to track what's being/been counted and what hasn't.  We must be able to do cycle counting well in EvoERP, so we need to have something added to the inventory record that we can then generate reports from as needed.

Right now, shipping and receiving does a count on a part when it's received, and only then.  They record the info in an Excel spreadsheet.  It needs to be done in EvoERP so Finance can track it and run reports on it, especially for our auditors.

There is already a Cycle Count Code inthe Inventory master so items can be assigned to a given code and counted accordingly.  What else are you looking for?

We're looking to be able to dynamically add a count date and quantity, and also run exception reports.  Right now, yes, we can and have used the cycle count code, but that really invovles freezing the inventory and doing a sort of mini-physical.  We cycle count parts as we receive them, so it's an ongoing process.  We need to have it all done it DBA so that theres a sort of audit trail (more believable that it's being done than saying we're doing it and tracking it in a spreadsheet, from the auditor point of view).

What would it take to add that functionality into EvoERP?

We do "process control cycle counting" here and make the adjustment with IN-C. We add "Cycle Count" in the notes field. The only time we have an audit issue is when no adjustment needs to be made, but if IN-C could be set to allow a zero net adjustment when the count is not off then you'd have the opportunity to enter the note for audit purposes. Perhaps a special version of IN-C that could do a type of transaction called a Cycle Count?
