Title: Faxing Documents from DBA Post by gtladmin on 06/08/06 at 12:18:59 Many of our staff would LOVE the ability to fax their documents from EvoERP, just like they now e-mail them. This would cut down tremendously running to the fax machine. I know there are plenty of products for network faxing--anyone using any of them right now with EvoERP? Val |
Title: Re: Faxing Documents from DBA Post by JNAPIER on 06/08/06 at 14:58:18 WinFax 10.0 I have tried to find a more stable one, not that WinFax is all that bad. I tested 3 different ones and they had funky interfaces, some no spell check, some with limited coverpage designing and really bad import engines for contacts. WinFax has a full server/client mode that works great as long as the machine that is set as the server is not used as a workststion or the user WILL SHOOT YOU. John |
Title: Re: Faxing Documents from DBA Post by gtladmin on 06/09/06 at 05:36:35 Hi John, So when you fax directly from DBA using WinFax, do you select a printer def that's the equiv of the fax driver? Is that how it works? Val |
Title: Re: Faxing Documents from DBA Post by jgh1204 on 06/09/06 at 07:09:13 Yep, when you install winfax, it should set up a printer called winfax. Print to that and it will handle the fax. With all the technology available, you would think there would be better fax software available. Faxing out is ok, I found Winfax did a poor job at incoming faxes. Maybe it was the hardware, although I tried them many different fax modems. |
Title: Re: Faxing Documents from DBA Post by JNAPIER on 06/09/06 at 07:52:58 Yup, We gave up on the inbound with WinFax as well. Norton has stopped at V10 so it is what it is...... John |
Title: Re: Faxing Documents from DBA Post by gtladmin on 06/09/06 at 08:03:04 Bummer---I've looked at this technology over the years, and it sounds like it really hasn't improved at all! If I know our users, they'll want it both ways, not just outgoing. Thanks you guys for the info, it was helpful nonetheless. Val |
Title: Re: Faxing Documents from DBA Post by Vman on 06/09/06 at 08:33:55 We have used Winfax here on our Peer-to-Peer network. Faxing out works fine, and the coversheet stuff is neat. Unfortunately, receiving faxes is another issue. Winfax V10.x won't print to a network printer, if the modem locks up (this can happen on receiving faxes from overseas or where there is a lot of line noise), it goes into la-la land and has to be manually reset. It seems that since Symantec bought the product, it's become a bloated POS, like the Norton products. I haven't found anything better, unless you go to the bigger enterpise stuff. |
