Title: Evo Wiki Post by kkmfg on 02/09/07 at 07:22:32 It would be nice if the new user contributing site was or contained a WIKI so that we users could add tips, tricks, etc to the wiki and help to flesh things out that way. The wiki could even contain the user additions and such in their own pages. I think it would be cool anyhow... |

Title: Re: Evo Wiki Post by Dale on 02/09/07 at 07:58:48 What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is a WIKI? |
Title: Re: Evo Wiki Post by GasGiant on 02/09/07 at 08:10:21 You've never been to Wikipedia? c'mon! Stop pulling my leg. |

Title: Re: Evo Wiki Post by timgolds on 02/09/07 at 08:29:23 great idea! Two questions: 1: who manages it? 2: what happens to outdated data? |
Title: Re: Evo Wiki Post by kkmfg on 02/09/07 at 08:38:37 #1: The hope is not to manage it much at all. But there will need to be a few people, probably Allan and Lynn and also a couple of trusted Evo users. The only need here is to keep people from posting dirty pictures of horses or flat out wrong information. #2: The hope here is that the users will update out of date info. After all, the whole point of a wiki is to have the users update the information that they are knowledgeable about themselves. So a popular wiki should have a minimum of stale data. |
Title: Re: Evo Wiki Post by Dale on 02/09/07 at 08:41:52 Yes, I've been to Wikipedia, but was unaware of it's beginnings, and didn't know there was a root word that stood alone by itself. I especially didn't connect "Wikipedia" to relation to an open forum on software code. Thanks to David and Google - I'm now less ignorant! |
Title: Re: Evo Wiki Post by Lynn_Pantic on 02/09/07 at 08:53:20 I'm game but how does one "make a wiki"? |

Sorry about that. I was not being serious. There are a lot of content management schemes floating around and, even though wiki is the top of the heap, the whole genre is rather obscure. But that's the idea. Collaboration is the goal, which puppetmaster is behind the scenes is secondary. |
