Title: Adding Lines to a PO, RFQ, or SO Post by ddlong on 08/16/07 at 14:39:37 Has anyone noticed that when you insert lines to a purchase order, RFQ or Sales Order and type in the part number that it only pulls in the top line description and doesn't pull in the 2nd line or any vender numbers, etc.? Is this something that will be fixed at some point or do I just need to tell them to manually add the additional information? Darla Long |
Title: Re: Adding Lines to a PO, RFQ, or SO Post by David Waldmann on 08/17/07 at 04:58:35 Works fine here (at least in SO & PO). Maybe it's an ISTS fix, but I don't remember it being a problem. |

The same happens to us alot - especially with PO's. |
Title: Re: Adding Lines to a PO, RFQ, or SO Post by David Waldmann on 09/04/07 at 05:20:34 Well, I see LeAnn is on a newer version than I. Maybe Darla is too (insert gentle chide to include version info in signature....). This doesn't, by chance, also happen to be in the GUI versions? (I am still on the "DOS" type ones). |

I am using the new GUI versions, which I do like - but this problem was occuring long before & has continued since the GUI screens. So I don't think GUI has anything to do with it. In fact PO-A/SO-A are not even a GUI screens. In PO-A, what happens is that if you try to revise a PO by adding a new line item in between 2 existing L/I's - it will only pull in the P/N & 1st line of description - No 2nd line desc, vendor p/n, specs or anything. Doesn't even ask if you want to include the specs. If you add the new L/I to the bottom of the PO it still does not add the 2nd line of desc but it does ask if you want to add specs, sometimes. . . . There is no set way that it will react. Sometimes it works & sometimes it does not. Pretty much the same thing happens in SO-A. I don't use the RFQ portion of EVO so I can't speak for that module. For me, I have found that it is much easier to start over with a brand new PO rather than modifying an already existing open one. |

Yes, that's what I was referring to as well. Just tested it again in POs (don't usually have to "Insert" in POs) and it seems to pull second lines and specs in fine. Guess we're just lucky :) |
Title: Re: Adding Lines to a PO, RFQ, or SO Post by Lynn_Pantic on 09/04/07 at 15:47:32 I can't duplicate in either one. I went into PO-A and SO-A and selected an existing order with multiple lines. Positioned the cursor on an existing line, clicked Insert Line, entered a part that I knew had second description line, specs, customer cross-reference, Vendor P/N, etc. and entered it and all the additional lines pulled in as well, inserted between lines, immediately before the line I had selected. Current (7/15/07) version and we have not touched that particular feature in a long time. What are you doing differently to make it not work? |
Title: Re: Adding Lines to a PO, RFQ, or SO Post by dameng on 09/08/07 at 09:13:45 it worked for me as well. took a po with multiple lines. selected the part number of the 2nd item listed, then clicked on Insert Line, and after selecting another item, ALL the descriptions , specs, and mfg p/n pulled in, inserting correctly between the last line of the item above, and the item i had selected, moving it down. |
Title: Re: Adding Lines to a PO, RFQ, or SO Post by Theran on 09/08/07 at 10:14:50 I had a similar situation in which I copied a closed PO, then I added lines by using the dupe key (saying to include comment lines). Duplicated about 6 lines. Only 2 had the 2nd line and Vender part #, the rest were 1 liners. Then to make matters worse, when I printed the PO (Yes, I DID SAVE the changes) only the original items from the copied PO printed. When I went back to edit the PO, all the items that I had added were gone. I tried it a 2nd time and got the same results. (Fool me once.........) So I deleted the PO and started fresh and then had no problems. By starting fresh I mean I added a new PO - I didn't copy a closed one or try to add or duplicate lines. I don't do this often so I can't say that it happens every time, but it did happen on Friday, 9/7/07. I am up to date on versions and patches. |
Title: Re: Adding Lines to a PO, RFQ, or SO Post by ddlong on 09/25/07 at 13:33:49 I figured out what I was doing, my misunderstanding of how inserting a line worked. We used to insert blank lines between our items so they would be easier to read. To insert a blank line, you click on insert and then you must enter through the entire line to leave the blank line. My wrong assumption was that I thought I had to create enough blank lines for the part number and all of the description lines. I was inserting multiple lines then I was going back and entering in the part number. This only returns the first line. Today I clicked on insert and immediately typed in my part number, instead of entering through to create the blank lines, and it did bring in both lines. Thanks to all who responded. Darla |
Title: Re: Adding Lines to a PO, RFQ, or SO Post by Laura Oliver on 10/25/07 at 14:23:25 Theran (Teres Heran) Since the update one of my girls reported the exact problem you mentioned in PO-A. This has only happened to us twice. I think it is only associated with closed POs |
