When using PR-B, Enter Pay information, is there any way to limit (or deny) changes to standard deductions by person entering the total hours for the pay period? I would like to see standard deductions here calculated by what is in the employee record and not subject to change here. Is that possible?
Would that mean disabling certain buttons by user?
I would appreciate some input on this-- we are thinking of changing to DBA Payroll and this is one of our concerns with our present system also that I was hoping could be fixed by switching.

I wouldn't want the ability to overide the standard deductions to go away completely. We use this often to catch up on taxes at bonus times and year endtax planning. If the limitation could be applied to a specific user, that would be fine. I would think the person entering payroll information should be trustworthy enough that this shouldn't be an issue. Changes to the deductions are not done easily by accident. It has to be intentional and I don't think I would want someone entering payroll that I couldn't trust.

I could not agree with you more-- unfortunately my only role in this is pick a secure "Payroll Program" not "Employee".
Actually, restricting changing employee records using the menu setup might be enough. Zero payroll deductions would be rather obvious in a given pay period.
