Title: Sales Act Designated by Part#, not Cust Code Post by lmk223a on 07/10/08 at 11:26:18 Since we have various types of sales income, (i.e. Engineering, Repairs, New Products) it would be nice to have the inventory part number Class determine the sales account to be charged in the GL rather than the Customer Code designated Sales GL. With the current setup, we have to establish more than one customer code in AR-A for the same customer in order to book the sale to the proper sales account. Also, when one sales order consisits of more than one type of product sale, a manual journal entry needs to be performed to move the dollars to the proper sales account. Further, when the customer remits payment, the check needs to be split among the various customer codes. It would make my life alot easier if the part number Class could take precedence and/or determine the sales account to be charged, rather than relying on the AR-A Customer Code sales account designation. Or..is there another way to accomplish this with the current setup? ::) |
Title: Re: Sales Act Designated by Part#, not Cust Code Post by cathyh on 07/10/08 at 12:02:35 I would think the only reason you would use a customer GL is if you want all that customer's sales to go to a particular sales account. If you leave the customer GL field blank, the class code for the line item number prevails. ------- Later.... I guess I could have read your question a little more carefully! Can you just put the items you want to go to a particular GL account using the item class code on a separate sales order and edit(delete) the customer GL? I don't know because we do not use customer GL's. |

Thanks, Cathy, for your response. Unfortunately, our Sales Dept. is not flexible nor knowledgeable in EVO - only enter sales orders specifically from customer's purchase orders, and cannot be expected to know inventory classes nor do anything extra. |
Title: Re: Sales Act Designated by Part#, not Cust Code Post by Lynn_Pantic on 07/15/08 at 17:29:26 Reading the original post, it still sounds to me like you want Sales posting to be driven by part rather than customer and, if that is the case, get rid of ALL the GL Sales accounts in the customer file and allow the item classes to drive the posting. The only reason to enter anything in the Customer GL Sales Account field is if you want sales driven by customer. If the Customer entry is blank, then the Item Class will drive the posting. |
