Title: Payroll improvements Post by EMI Ann on 09/02/08 at 10:09:11 I would love to see more spaces available for telephone numbers (cell & home). I would also like to see a notes page where emergency contacts, raise and review history, and notes on tardiness or other issues can be kept. |
Title: Re: Payroll improvements Post by Lynn_Pantic on 09/02/08 at 10:32:45 it just so happens that we are working on some improvements to the payroll master file (including encryption of sensitive information such as Social Security number) so if there is anything else that anybody can think of, now is the time to let us know. |
Title: Re: Payroll improvements Post by EMI Ann on 09/02/08 at 14:04:14 Yay! Glad to see more stuff coming into Payroll! On Print Payroll History I would love to see the SS and Medicare subtotals broken out (I currently run a report in GL-C), and the option to not print a person who did not receive pay in the pay period. For Workers' Comp audits, I have to show "regular" hours, including disparate rates, as a thing different from vacation, sick, and OT. Perhaps a couple of name-able rate boxes under the Regular category when entering payroll, and in reports? We've had shift and duty differentials, and I'm sure others have situations where folks might have specific payroll requirements that are "regular" in the sense that they are not excludable or shown in special categories for purposes like insurance. A second address line for employees would be good, too. Thanks for all you do to make EVO better all the time! |
Title: Re: Payroll improvements Post by GasGiant on 09/02/08 at 14:57:34 We have stopped using the payroll module as of this year. However, I do recall that we ran out of deductions for a few people. United Way, loan payments, garnishments, Christmas Club, child support... doesn't take long when so many are already used up by various taxes, insurances and the SEP IRA. |
Title: Re: Payroll improvements Post by deburr on 09/09/08 at 09:55:29 Great news!! In addition to the additional phone information and 2nd address line for persons using PO boxes, a more flexible method of calculating matches on user deductions would be helpful. We currently match 100 percent of first 3 percent of compensation and then 50 percent of the next 2 percent on compensation (Safe Harbor 401K.) A vendor payee selection at the individual employee user deduction would also make life easier. Currently that is done at payroll defaults and must be the same for all employees in that division for that deduction. For example, we have garnishments payable to different states but we must do tranferring of amounts in accounting to split it up between different vendors. Another great help would be the ability to import time data from other time keeping programs to automate payroll each week. Getting rid of the CAPS only restriction in the first address line would be great for new users. We currently have to use caps on every field to keep things looking OK on checks and reports so not a big thing for us. More flexible deduction reports would be great. Will send more ideas later. Title: Re: Payroll improvements Post by Lenette on 09/16/08 at 08:29:19 We had an employee who was taking Advanced EIC. Per Lynn's instructions we set it up as a negative deduction. However, when running the 941 Schedule B... numbers do not JIVE. We would have to manual adjust each IRS payment amount to match the 941. By the way, I love all the ideas so far!!!! Lenette |
Title: Re: Payroll improvements Post by cathyh on 10/08/08 at 09:23:19 We are in the process of setting up Payroll and there are a couple of things: The ability to set different status for Federal and State Taxes-- in CA we have people classified as Married (two Incomes) which is really the same as Single, but we do not want to classify these people as single because of the resulting HUGE increase in FIT withholding ( sorry, single people :'( ). We need to either have that second married status available or be able to set state status as single and FED status as married. The ability to put in two rows of regular and overtime pay when a raise is given in the middle of the pay period (or the ability to edit standard pay type titles...). We are posting our first "test" payroll today.... |
