Title: Lines repeating in S/r and Invoice
Post by dbernhard on 11/18/08 at 14:42:40

We have a repeatable problem in the S/R module today.  If we open an existing S/R order in SR-A, the line item that was originally entered will duplicate itself on the S/R and the Invoice (print and print preview mode).  Each subsequent time we open SR-A and view the S/R, it adds another duplicate line item below what was there originally.  It also duplicates the S/R number when viewing the list of open S/R's (there are multiple S/R's listed with the same number).  To further complicate matters, when viewing the Line Items screen for that particular S/R, the line item is only listed once.  I have some screen shots which will hopefully clarify this, which I will try to figure out how to post here.

One wonders what is shown in the tables. I would assume that ISSRINV shows three SRs with the same number, but that ISSRINVL only has two lines. Otherwise each S/R would show all lines in the line item view. Or not.

Aside: I note, with some annoyance, that many users neglect the use of line numbers on Sales Orders (and S/R's). Must be a quirk of mine, but I can't understand why someone would want to leave this undone nor why the program allows it. It seems such an important reference, especially for Work Orders and reporting. Perhaps this is just my military training coming out?

Hi GasGiant
Actually ISSRINV shows only one line and ISSRINVL now shows 4!  Everytime we even look at it, it repeats itself
I told the end users what you said about using line items, but they ask "why doesn't the system automatically assign line item numbers?"
Anyway - back to my problem...what is happening here?
I will ask Missy, our expert IT person to respond with the technical aspects

Debra is trying to say that each time we open the S/R, another line item gets added.  We're now up to four on this particular S/R.  As for the two files you refer to, here's what they list:

In ISSRINVL, what are the numbers in the second field (BKAR.INVL.CNTR) for the lines? Are they all the same?

You can set up auto line numbering for most modules, including Sales Orders, in SD-Q by answering Y to "Enable Auto Line Numbers in SO-A". Not sure, but that setting seems to carry over into RMA/SR line numbering.

Okay, that makes sense. The header keeps getting repeated. That is just freaky.

They increment:  1, 2, and 3.  Are my screenshots displaying?  The  CNTR field is in my screenshot...

Yes, no problems. ISSRINVL shows three different lines, which represent two line items on the order. That seems correct.

ISSRINV shows multiple lines with the same SO and Invoice numbers, which should never happen.

Deb, I am not sure why you are getting the SR orders duplicated and nobody else is reporting it.  Is it just this one order or are you seeing it on any order you edit?  Does it matter if it has already been released before you edit it?

On a side note regarding line numbering, there is an SD-Q setting to Enable Auto Line Numbering in SO-A and if it is turned on for SO it will also work in SR.

Hi Lynn
Yesterday we saw it duplicate lines on every S/R we opened.  I was afraid to keep looking.
Today I entered two sample RMAs.  I received and dispositioned both.  I kepp going back into each one to see if anythign duplicated - no.  Then I went into the S/R and went back to edit both S/R, nothing repeated.  Printed Pkg List.
Then I released the order and printed the invoice, one line, ok.  Mark as printed.

HERE IS THE ISSUE - I went back to look at the S/R screen and the S/R number is duplicated in the look up.  I reprinted the invoice and it now has two lines.

SO it is when we release the S/R to Invoice that it is duplicating.  Go back to the look up screen and the S/R is now listed 3 times.  The Invoice now has three lines.

I can reproduce this every time.

The above process was done in EVO and can be repeated everytime.  I tried the same process in DBA - I can get all the way to print pk list ok - then DBA locks up before it can print the invoice - I get An Error message record was not found in ERRMSG.B file. 405  - there was no previous error message before the 405 message.
I lock up and have to crash.  This process can also be duplicated.

Maybe you can remote log in to see first hand...
