Title: Minor upgrade request Post by RPCAdmin on 02/05/09 at 10:54:11 When in IN-B and entering new items, it would be REALLY nice if after you hit SAVE, it stayed at that part number (might make the whole business of adding the vendor info easier and we often make changes to a handful of consecutive numbers and it would be nice to just hit the next button.) |
Title: Re: Minor upgrade request Post by GasGiant on 02/05/09 at 10:58:13 The pointer does stay there, so hitting Next works, even though the screen blanks. |
Title: Re: Minor upgrade request Post by deburr on 02/05/09 at 11:52:25 Mine, T7, saves to a blank form, and if I hit next, it advances to the next item. Then I can hit back to get to the original item. I agree, it would save a few mouse clicks if it stayed on the item and kept it on the screen. |
Title: Re: Minor upgrade request Post by RPCAdmin on 02/05/09 at 11:54:53 Actually - that helps, I never realized the pointer was still active - I thought I had to type in the part number again. That'l do. |
Title: Re: Minor upgrade request Post by GasGiant on 02/05/09 at 11:59:49 Hmm, if you are through entering info and hit Save, why would you want the same item on the screen? Just to check that it is correct? Wouldn't you do that BEFORE you save it? ;) Once a record is entered, leaving that record on the screen might cause questions in the mind of the user. Did it save? Am I done? I'm done :-X |
Title: Re: Minor upgrade request Post by RPCAdmin on 02/05/09 at 12:06:45 Actually - there is a reason (and I mentioned it a while back in a different thread) - Assume you have all the information for a new component part - you add the part in IN-B - on the first time you are entering the part, you can't save anything in the vendor screen, since the part hasn't been saved yet. You have to save it first, then get back into that part and then enter the vendor info (using the VEND button). We do this often and I asked if there was some way to avoid the double entering.....this improves the status quo slightly. |
Title: Re: Minor upgrade request Post by GasGiant on 02/05/09 at 12:20:46 Does that mean that the real need is for the vendor info thingie to work right/better/differently? |
Title: Re: Minor upgrade request Post by RPCAdmin on 02/05/09 at 12:40:52 I guess - Now that I no longer have to key in the whole part number again to enter the vendor info, it might seem easier (haven't tried it yet ;D ). My original request to Lynn or Allen was to be able to enter all the information and only have to hit save one time, but I don't know how practical that is (based on the data and file structure). |
Title: Re: Minor upgrade request Post by GasGiant on 02/05/09 at 12:44:45 Well, it could be done by auto saving when you click the vendor button, but that might create its own set of problems. I'm sure there is a way to make the process linear. |
