We just removed old anti-virus software, and installed a new one on the server. The new software does not have a firewall, so the WIndows firewall is operating.

The above btrieve error comes up when trying to open dba on a workstation. If we turn the firewall off, it works fine.
We are running the program on a mapped drive.

I created exceptions for dba and persuasive on the server, but to no avail!

What version of Pervasive? PSQL 2000 predates all the Windows security and firewall stuff that is out there today and is no longer supported so you may have come up with a combination of Windows OS, old Pervasive and new anti-virus that just can't play together. Pervasive offers a free 30 day trial of the current version on their website so you could try installing it before you commit to spending the money to determine whether it is the solution. Only caveat is that you would have to install the updated Pervasive to the server and all workstations and then if it is not the solution, uninstall it and reload the old one.

If updating the Pervasive is the solution, IS Tech can provide the PSQL license.

It appears to be the 2000 version.

Would those facts still apply if I said that DBA works on the server (firewall on or off) but not on the workstations when the firewall is on?

I am on the Pervasive's site - which version do I need to download?? Summit v10.x? And how much is the upgrade if we go with that?

You need teh Pervasive Summit 10.10 trial - Either Workgroup if you have 5 or fewer users, or the Windows Server and Windows clients if you have more than 5. Email me with user count information and I can get you pricing.
