Title: can't run odbcddf Post by cathyh on 04/14/09 at 10:29:37 I am trying to run odbcddf on my main company and I keep getting an error that the file.new can not be copied to file.ddf and i should contact DBA support. I can run this routine in my test company successfully. Does the program UT-J Generate ddf files do the same thing? |
Title: Re: can't run odbcddf Post by Lynn_Pantic on 04/14/09 at 12:34:19 ODBCDDF and UT-J do not do the same thing but if you can run ODBCDDF in the test company then you can copy the *.DDF files from the test company subfolder to the main company subfolder. If you get an error copying them in then it means the DDF in the main company is open which would explain why ODBCDDF gave an error. |
Title: Re: can't run odbcddf Post by kevind on 04/14/09 at 15:45:41 If you do copy the DDF files from another company, the internal data structures of those DDF files will still point to the other company files. I believe ODBC requires the datafiles for it's table definitions to be in the same folder as the DDF files, so I don't know how angry >:( this will make ODBC that internally, the pointers are to a different folder. |
