Title: GL-R Business Status
Post by markoptics on 12/22/09 at 12:40:36

I am on 9/16/09 sp.5 on dba classic.  I am trying to use GL-R business status.
It asks a question "The Business status data contains a period with 00/00/00 date that needs to be reassigned to the correct period.  This may take a few minutes.  Would you like to do it now? If not, the program will exit and you will see this message each time business status is loaded until the recalculation program is run".

So I say "yes" and then I get this message:
"an error message record was not found in the ERRMSG.B file. 405".

Then I press (OK) and my DBA freezes up and I have to reboot.
How can I fix this?

You should never have to "reboot", so that is the first thing to fix. If you run the DBAMS.exe program in the DBAMFG folder on your work station you will be able to use task manager to end the dbamfg process when it hangs and then restart DBA without having to reboot.

As for the zero dates problem, it sound like a job for Super Novazyg!

Yes, I'm sorry.  I did not reboot, I ended task. But then I cannot start DBA again because it always says that I already have one running on my work station.  This is the same for all my work stations at my company that run DBA.  So I then have to reboot the computer so that it thinks that there are no DBA's running.  If you know how I can stop that, it would save me and my employees a ton of time. Your input would be greatly appreciated.  Julie

That was the first part of my suggestion. If you run DBAMS.EXE (DBA multi-session) on each workstation you will never need to reboot them again on failure of DBA. It is in the DBAMFG folder for all DBA versions since 2004.1, I believe.

It is as easy as

Start > Run > F:/DBAMS.exe

where F: is your network DBA drive/folder.

Actually, the DBAMS.EXE has been around longer than that - 2001 or so as I recall.  It is workstation specific (registry setting) so it needs to be run on each workstation by a Windows user profile that can update registry settings.

Well that saved a lot of angst.  Thanks.

This sounds similar to the probelm I am having with different modules, did you ever get a fix for it?

I am also waiting for information on how to use this.  I get the 00/00/00 and useless data.  It does not freeze, it is just useless.
