EVO -Looking up PO receipts in IN-A, if a part number has quote mark, which we use as the inch symbol to describe the size of some items, the program crashes, saying there is an unbalance expression.....

We can use quotation marks in the part number description, but not the part number itself. Got the same error message.

Folks at IStech. Any way to fix this? It's a real nuisance. If there is no way to fix this, I will need to renumber a bunch of items.

Since it will also break reports, exports, imports, and transfer of data to other programs, I would suggest removing the characters from both part numbers and descriptions. When working with data stored in databases (except in large text fields), it is good practice to avoid using special characters such as ('"{}[]&%$#/\) Even if programs can handle these characters they will slow searches, break alphabetization and cause programmers to charge extra ;-)

SM-J-L can be used to change part numbers and the import option can change a list of part numbers based on a CSV file of Old Part, New Part
