Printing Trial Balance and Journals
06/12/03 at 09:38:13

When printing TB and Journals on dot matrix printers the last line of print (57th line by my count) prints on the perforation. When I use the old DBA program The last line of printing (60th line byu my count) stops one inch from the perforation. The fonts appear the same size but the space between lines appears to be less in the old DBA program.
Thanks,

We have random printing problems with this and other reports where one line prints on a page then breaks to another new page, sometimes creating a blank page in between.  We've just ignored it for lack of anything else to fix it. undecided

We had problems with dot matrix long ago but now use use a laser with the problems described above.

Not sure if this will help anyone, but I had same problem awhile ago on my "best" laser printer.  The cheap HP LaserJet 6L's printed the reports just fine.

I tried so many things, I'm not sure what actually corrected the problem, but zero in on your printer settings.

Setup Menu
    Printer Language = PCL Emulation

PCL Emulation Menu
   Font Source = Resident
   Font Name   = R0 Courier
   Pitch            = 10.00
   Symbol Set  = 10U PC-8
   Orientation  = Portrait
   Lines per page = 60
   A4 Width      = 198mm
   Auto CR after LF = off
   Auto LF after CR = off

If you have paper menus, check them also for such things as Blank pages  print/do not print; separator sheets etc.

I believe it was within some of these settings that I finally corrected 95% of my printing problems.  I think one or two minor reports still print the last couple of lines on a new page, then feed to the next page.

Re: Printing Trial Balance and Journals "Time"

Does anyone have an issue with the time it takes for a trial balance to run.  We are not that big of a company yet it takes 50 + minutes to run a trial bal (option beg/end balances summary).  This is very time consuming?  We have been using this software since the year 2000 and have all the current updates installed.
