PLEASE VOTE! Display notes when entering PO/SO
06/08/04 at 17:06:12

Hi,

Has anyone considered making notes that would pop up whenever entering a SO or PO for an item?

For example:
1. Ask if they want batteries!
2. Do not sell this item to end users
3. Must have motor rev >2

or for POs:
1. Negotiate price!

You get the picture. These comments would NEVER print on the SO or PO. Perhaps it could be worked into the SO/PO Notes revision (that was just completed!)

I was on SBT software ( a hundred years ago) and  it had something similar.   When I added a note I had the option to make it part of a library of notes.   Then when entering a SO I could F2 the library and choose from a note that I had already written.

It is a feature I miss on DBA.  I mentioned it a few yrs back.

Sounds like you are talking about 2 different things.  Nick wants a pop-up message to the person doing the order entry that doesn't actually save to the order while Laura wants the ability to save Notes to a Library and then pull from the library for Notes to be saved when entering an order.  Do I understand correctly?

Both are valid requests.  Nick, would the pop-up note be part number specific or Customer or what?

Yes, notes would be helpful.  Gee Lynn, we need it all.  Notes for customers, notes for parts, notes for vendors.

An example would be pulling a note called "personal guarentee" from the Library.     I would like to be able to print this note on a very few select packing slips.   This is an extensive note that I don't want to type all the time, and certainly only need it for 1 in a 5000 deliveries.  Of course I could suppress the note when I posted the invoice.

To Lynn's response:

Yes, this thread is now on two different things. I am looking for something that is triggered when a part number is brought up in SO or PO.

The note would be stored for each ITEM, and not for particular customers. If I was to ask for the moon, I would ask that we could have notes that would pop up for each customer and vendor too!

Ex. for customer: Limit free samples to 2!
Ex. for vendor: Be sure to fax drawings!

I hope I am making myself clear here.

Thanks,

Nick
