Look in the DBAMFG folder for files named DBAHELP.*. Make sure your Explorer settings are set to show extensions for known file types. You should have DBAHELP.HLP and DBAHELP.CNT. Those are the two files you need. You may also have DBAHELP.GID and DBAHELP.FTS. Delete those files, then when you load help the next time they will be recreated and will work.

We found the dbahelp.cnt and a dbahelp without the .hlp extension - though it is identified as a help file type. Is that the correct file?
thanks

Yes, that's the one. You must have your Explorer configured to hide extensions of known file types. I HATE that setting but it is a Windows default.

Ok... I didn't quite understand that setting, but now have it set to view. I deleted the .tfs file and did not have the .gid file (hmmm) I closed DBA, logged back in, still no help search/index tabs. Same error message appears. ???

Make sure Explorer is set to show System and Hidden files - the GIF is a hidden file. Another Windows setting I hate although I at least understand the logic of it a bit better.....

OK, I'm back...
Just followed your directions and everything is working.
Also, in my file search efforts I noticed that we have multiple copies of both dbahelp.hlp and dbahelp.cnt files Is this correct? I assume a file come with each update but for some reason doesn't overwrite the old file(?).
thanks for the help!
