CID code in CM > credit card info.
01/28/05 at 11:17:33

We store customer's credit card numbers (by request and with permission) in CM.  However, we've recently started requiring the CID code from the back of the cards in order to process them.  Currently there is no space to store the CID code.  Would be nice to have a new field there for that purpose.

If you do find a place to store the CID code, you may be in direct violation of your merchant agreement.
Our merchant agreements specifically forbid us from keeping a record of this number.

hmm, wasn't aware that could be a potential issue.  I'll have to check that out.  Thanks for bringing it up.

I checked with our merchant services provider and they say that storing the CID codes does not violate the agreement.  This applies to Visa and MC cards.  Amex and Discover need to contacted separately to find out.

Still think adding the field is a valid feature request...

In the last month I rec'd a letter from Amex stating that we are no longer allowed to keep the Amex CIDs either. However, I have a problem - what do you do with it if you don't keep it? Obviously you can't just remember them all, what are you supposed to do, write it on a piece of paper, keep it in the safe, and then shred it three weeks later when you ship? I'd be very interested to know what other DBA users do.

Anyways, we use the Company Name field to store the CID. Please don't tell anyone Tongue
