Change Invoice Post Date
08/25/05 at 09:27:45

Posting invoices with the incorrect date is probably something that we all have encountered at some point in time.  While voiding and reissuing invoices is a solution to the problem, if a batch of invoices gets posted incorrectly and mailed before the problem was caught, a program that could change the invoice date would be a much better solution IMHO.  Wink

Posting an invoice potentially saves date related information to Commissions, Inventory, AR, GL, Shipment History, Sales Tax, Check Register, there are a lot of files involved - much easier said than done!  Not impossible but not easy.  And many accountants wouldn't want the loss of the audit trail that would result.

I can understand that... if I knew all of the changes that would have to be made, I would go into the database and fix them myself, but I would imagine it would take a considerable amount of time.  In the scenario I mentioned, it would probably be easier to compensate for a change in date than have customers paying from an invoice that was voided to make the correction.  Granted it doesn't happen every day, but our bookkeeper would much rather deal with a small headache over a migraine.

I have posted an invoice or two with an incorrect date, once it crossed months, so I approached my ISE person and had the date manually changed via MAINTAIN DATABASE to the appropriate files so my monthly reports would be accurate.

It's not so much of a problem if the difference is only a day or so, only when it crosses months.

True, as we let the last incident slide because the difference was only one day, but monthly crossovers would definitely create more of a problem.
