It would be nice to have the ability to have a Period Open Date. Just like the period end date now except it would not allow FUTURE transactions to happen. Not just at the GL level but at all program levels.

Me Too!  Fix fat finger problems!

One year after won't work, the Closing date should be advanced month by month.  I agree, it is a good idea, but would not be simple to implement because so many programs are involved that post.  Could certainly be phased in and addressed first in the programs that are the most difficult to fix when processed incorrectly such as SO-G and AP-C.
