We routinely look at closed sales orders when providing customer service or looking at items that a customer ordered last time. When we do, we get the message "This Sales Order is closed. Do you want to Re-open it?" Answering yes allows you to look at the order, but it also saves the "order is now open" flag. It would be nice if the "order is now open" flag would only be saved if the sales order were saved and there were items to ship. I understand that if I save a closed order and there are no line items left to ship, that another box is displayed asking if I want to Close it. It would seem to make more sense to only flag the Order as opened if I were to actually save it. I drill into people that if they did not make any intentional changes to something (spreadsheet, document, etc.), then they should Close / Exit / Cancel (whatever avoids saving) instead of save. Sometimes, they forget to save closed orders that have been opened, and then orders are left in the open condition.
