PO email
12/18/07 at 10:53:49

We have a vendor whose email in the contact info is exactly the same as in the outlook contacts, yet when the PO is emailed to him through Evo, we get a "could not deliver no such person in our organization" error, but when it is sent through outlook it is delivered fine.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Can anyone offer any solutions?
Thanks!

For some reason, I have customers/vendors, who reseive my emails out of EVO as SPAM and are rejected by their server. If I email them out of Outlook, they go thru fine.

In all likelihood Evo is putting different mail headers on the messages than outlook would. It would be informative if someone could post a raw message out of both Evo and Outlook. It'll be easy to get the outlook one but I don't know how easy it'll be to get the Evo one.

Could you get the raw Evo message from a BCC?

Pretty much. In fact, I suppose the easiest thing to do is send it to yourself. Then you can open up the email's source and see what it looks like. Granted, either way you'll get some additional headers from your mail server that delivered it to you but it'll still be pretty close.

Below are the censored headers from an email I recently sent to a mailing list:

Message-ID: <4762958B.2030205@kkmfg.com>
Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2007 09:39:07 -0500
From: Me <myemail@kkmfg.com>
User-Agent: Thunderbird 2.0.0.9 (Windows/20071031)
MIME-Version: 1.0
To: mailinglist@somewhere.com
Subject: Something
References:  <81e08d920712140617tb211a02o8bb620fa3be172b@mail.gmail.com>
In-Reply-To: <81e08d920712140617tb211a02o8bb620fa3be172b@mail.gmail.com>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Presumably such a set of headers will not get tagged as SPAM. So now the thing to do is get me or someone else to post the headers off an email out of EVO.

If I am understanding correctly, the mail is never sent, and so it could not be labeled as spam.

When I try and send email from the link in AR-A my message does not go through either (I just re-tested it in case it had been fixed in the last year). I get message from "System Administrator" in my Inbox that says "The following recipient could not be reached". As far as I know this has been a problem from day one. I don't know if it's related or not.

That is what I got, a system administrator message saying there was no such person at the server I was sending to.  But the email goes through in Outlook with the exact same address.  We have successfully emailed PO's before from Evo, but maybe only to other vendors.  This vendor's server may be rejecting the mail for some other reason than the email address.  I will try to get a copy of the email-- we always BCC to someone here.

Or post the system administrator message (the raw message source not the copy you'd normally see in your email window)

I'm pretty sure I know the cause of one of the problems:

The getting tagged as SPAM problem is because the nzEmail library appends an

X-Library: Indy 9

header to the outgoing messages. SpamAssassin and other spam blockers will then think of the message as suspicious because apparently some spambots also use the Indy email library. Thus, if this header were removed it's possible (and likely) that the email would no longer be tagged as spam.

Now, for the getting bounced problem I would still need to see a bounced message's source.

So you are saying that if you sent a message through outlook to Greg.Myer *at* trelleborg *dot* com (obfuscated to protect the poor guy from any more spam than he already gets) that it goes through fine? That seems odd because his mail server appears to be saying that Greg.Myer is not a valid user on their end.

If I send an email out of evo to one of our other email addresses here it works fine... Apparently other people are able to send out of Evo as well (as someone already mentioned their mail getting spam canned).

If your answer really is yes, you can send to that exact address in outlook then I'll have to sniff around and see if there is anything fishy with the Domino email server...

Yes according to the purchaser she could email the attached PDF to Greg.Myer using Outlook 2007 no problem.  But through the Evo email program she got the sys admin error.  She also says this has happened with other vendors too.

I just tried to email both Greg and myself (on the to line with ; in between addresses) and I got the same sys admin error, AND my email went to the spam folder in Outlook (2007).

Here are both headers:

Never Never mind!!   embarrassed
I should have forced my purchaser to review the email addresses in front of me before continuing on with this wild goose chase-- there is an "e" missing in myer (meyer) in the Evo email-  I just checked it myself.

I am wondering now if all the problems are really just bad emails.  I am wondering how many problem email addresses there are since this is the first I have heard about it.

Well that means our only problem is with the messages being tagged SPAM and I already posted about that.
