Is anyone on here using the newest UPS WorldShip 10 and also exporting tracking #'s and importing customer data to UPS? All the discussion about it seems to be from the worldship 6-8 days. Since then they've switched to MSSQL instead of access. Just wondering if the same steps still work?

We use UPS 10.0  import & export with Evo without any problems.  Same setup since Version 7.

If you need more info... let me know... I'll have to dig up my instructions.

UPS is the biggest P.O.S. period. We run it on a worstation Win XP P4 3.4 ghz 2 GIG 800 Mhz Ram and is is still SLOW as hell. The import map generally has a problem with the address fields [ 1] and [ 2] UPS doesn't like the brackets or maybe the spaces and you can't map the field. I really do not remember what I had to do to trick it but I got it to map somehow. The BRUTE FORCE update forces the updates on you and you can't say no more than twice. Last update from UPS overwrote my J Card files on our IC Verify CC processing software. Poof no more Credit Card Processing and I had to call their Tech Support $$$ to resolve it.

Even UPS as a company Sucks A$$ I say BOYCOTT Them..........

Yeah, not too many people have a lot of good things to say about worldship but you've pretty much got to use it if you want UPS... And well, as for dumping UPS, we've tried. The other package carriers are also inept baboons. Unfortunately, UPS gives us a good price and usually doesn't screw up delivering our packages so we're pretty much set with using them. That and the owner is Italian and it wouldn't be any good to not support family, right? Wink

Still, I wish worldship import/export worked a bit faster with Evo... It's unusable as is...

We used to use StarShip from V-Technonlgies. Worked great with it's ODBC interface. The pricing got to the point that the carriers programs made more sense. $1500 for UPS and FedEx and $500 per yr support.   http://shop.vtechnologies.com/

We've never used it, but I looked at it once long ago and I see they're still in business.
http://www.globalshippingsoftware.com/. They have solutions from $700 - 2300.

We export tracking number to DBA for each shipment.  Just changed to Worldship 10.  On previous versions, there was a long (a few minutes) delay before the label was printed (standard UPS serial label printer), and the label would print when the ODBC export was complete.  On v10, the label prints immediately, then there's a wait while the export processes, so that's a bit of an improvement.  If anything, the wait is a tad shorter.

Mike,
Do you use the automatic export after processing shipment option when exporting the tracking numbers?  What field are you mapping the tracking codes to?

Yes, we do use automatic export, so each shipment writes back...that's what causes the delay each time.

Don't remember the fields, but I put the whole process on the wiki.
