SO-P-H Error?
09/30/08 at 09:15:34

I've had this problem a few times now. When converting a RMA in SO-P-H the new sales order is not the next one in line. I haven't noticed that when adding new sales orders we have skipped numbers, but this morning when i converted a RMA to a SO it should have grabbed 7985 but inserted it at 7981. This has happened a few times in the last month or so. Any insight?

You hadn't noticed it but apparently it HAD been skipping SO #'s? There really wasn't a 7981 but there were 7982, 7983, 7984?

We use the RMA module, but we have not noticed any numbering issues.  I wonder if you had started the dispositioning process previously and it had reserved that number? Or did you get a duplicate of 7981?

No duplicate. I just found out that my coworker had started to enter a SO. Got past the header screen then exited without saving. So that number had been "skipped". He then entered 2 SO after that. I don't understand why the RMA converting process would assign the "skipped" SO number for the new reorder SO INSTEAD of the next SO number?????????

You should not be using SO-P-F, G & H, that is the old obsolete RMA program that has been replaced by the new RM module on the Sales menu.

We have not switched over to the "new rma module". Due to our level of customer service we send replacement product out before getting the problem product back. We track this with invoices and credit memos processed the old way. I've not been able to come up with procedure on how to process that in the new rma module. I like it for repair and return items but don't want to be using both.

Also I'd still like to know why the converting didn't place the new so at the end of the list?

Thanks Carie

We changed the location of the "next" number to a new file but the old RMA program was not updated.
