RMA Module
10/22/08 at 07:58:34

Hi
We are just starting to use RMA Module.  I ran into a few issues while we were in the test company   I am dealing with many complainers that do not like change so I just would like to know that the RMA module is working well before we implement it.  Otherwise it gives fuel to the people that hate change.

I would like to know how do you track the labor in repairs?  There is no routing on the S/R work order.  Adding a routing to each S/R seems tedious.  Also should we issue repair parts to the work order or directly on the S/R?

Appreciate your input
Regards
Debra Bernhard

We use the RMA module and have for awhile. The only issues that we currently have are serial number related (our serial number files are messy anyway) and IS Tech is helping us to work out the kinks in our system. If you will have more than one serialized item per order you will want to run the fixer routines that are new (or maybe still in test) to clean up your tables. If you also use multiple locations you may want to run their new location clean up tool, also.

By default, there is a Labor item added to each SR work order. During release of the SR you can enter the hours and the hourly charge.

We use WO-G to issue parts to the repair work orders, which causes them to show up when you are releasing the SR, where again you can enter the price that you charge. You can then print the list of parts and labor on the packing list and invoice, if you want.

Overall it is a very good module. We have been using it since it first came out and the bugs are worked out of it at this point. We still have one feature request, thought, and that is the ability to back out an SR invoice. Due to the fact that processing of an SR invoice also processes the work orders it will not be easy to do, I'm sure.

The final bit of advice I will mention is that you need to make sure that you are on the most recent release of the DBA/Evo. That will give you the most recent fixes AND if you do have any problems, it will make it easier for the good folks at IS Tech to get you patched up quickly (before the Huns break down your gates!)

Hi Colin
The Invoice bug was fixed - Yeah and Thank you for your help
But now I have a new problem - The serial number does not print on the Service and Repair
It as for the s/n information but it only prints on the RMA and the Invoice - not the service and repair
Which is a problem for us.  We can add the s/n as a second line item in the description of each line but I think I must be missing something - Does your Service and Repair order show the s/n?
Thanks
Debra

It does print on the Packing Slip, which is what we send to the customer. Internally we hand write the Lot/Serial numbers on the printed S/R, which becomes part of the traveler along with the printed Work Orders. Looking at the S/R RTM that we use (IT6SRB4.RTM), I see that it does not have the sub-reports for lot and serial number, which is odd because the print program asks if you want to print it. Maybe that is one for the bug tracker?

I have spoken with the programmer and he confirms that this feature was overlooked. The S/R RTM is basically a copy of the SO Acknowledgment RTM, which does not need to print lot/serial numbers. Plus, the S/R RTMs were created before the new RMA module was released, back when the lot and serial info was not entered until release (SR-E).

I will add this to the Bug Tracking program (http://www.istechsupport.com/bugtrack ), even though Mike already has a handle on it.

One more question...

Is there a report that shows open, rec'd, in process...anything like that for RMA & Service & Repair?
I can not seem to locate a report funstion other than Sales Orders but that does not show the disposition of the pending RMAs...

Other than doing a lookup of open RMAs or open S/R order, no reports. I've never had a problem with that because I just create my own browser-based reports when I want one and seldom use the internal reports anymore. However, it does seem improper to offer no reports at all for the module.  Huh

This is where, if I were any good at self promotion, I would put in a plug for the new Evo2Web Internal application, but I'm not going to  Tongue

I have a report that returns a formatted list of open repairs that we can use for tickling the Repair group. What is it you need for the weekly RMA disposition report? A range of dates? Is it based on received date or disposition date? Only open RMAs, or closed ones as well?

I have the following Repair/RMA reports for my people...

- Detailed status of one RMA by #
- RMA history for product by Item code
- All Unreceived (incoming) RMAs
- All Received RMAs without disposition info
- All Open Repair orders
- All received, closed RMA/SR records (big report, has post-filtering option)
- Repair orders opened between two dates

All have client-side, any-column sorting.

If you are any good with Excel, you could build a custom report (with a little help from your friends here on the user forums)  Wink

Looks like Mike added the ability to print lot and serial info on S/R orders. It will require a new RTM, but that was a good catch and a quick fix.  Smiley

Thank you!  That sounds great
We will watch for the patch...

The EVO@WEB looks fantastic - It is really amazing  - but we have 40 EVO seats so my boss nearly choked on the price.  I am trying to get him to look more closely at all it can do and hope that he sees the benefits

Well, the nice thing about Evo2Web or DC seats is that you can get as few or as many as you want and they keep you from having to buy more Full DBA/Evo seats.

For instance, here at FHC, Inc. we have 25 Evo seats and about 45 users. Many of the users are casual or occasional (managers, professionals) and I've convinced most of them to use Evo2Web when they need to look things up or run a report. We seldom run out of Evo licenses. Another nice thing is that Evo2Web only uses a Pervasive license when it is running a query, where as DBA/Evo reserves one for every user who is logged in. We have several programs that directly access PSQL and we tend to run out of PSQL licenses before Evo licenses run out. A year ago we were looking at purchasing ten more PSQL (which would mean upgrading all seats to v. 10), but now it is not necessary.
