Setting up the accounting Module

Hello,
 
We have been using DBA since 2004 but never activated the accounting module. We are looking forward to set it up now and start using it.
1- What would be the best way to approach it?
2- Any particular issues the we should keep a close eye on?
 
Any advise or guide line is greatly appreciated.

Make sure to enable multicurrency!!
