T7POA is frustrating!!
12/31/09 at 07:07:05

OK - This happens whether it is the classic view or the Evo view...
Start entering a PO for some general electronic parts we use to make fixtures - the parts do not have their own part numbers since we don't use them for product.  We use a generic item "R&D EXPENSE" to assign the cost to something.  I enter R&D EXPENSE as the item number, the qty, the cost and the delivery (NEVER a problem with this line).  I then need to place descriptive lines below that one so that the vendor knows what I am ordering (nothing in the item line, description line has something like "Digikey 455-1313-1").  I just entered a 20 line PO to order parts, and the first enter for r&d expense had all three lines, the next 19 had only the first line, NO DESCRIPTION LINES!!!  ARRGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!   and to top it off, fields from previous lines stay populated with text that isn't really there (usually the description line).................This same thing actually also happens in IN-B, where if you are entering a dozen new parts, the user defined field stays populated with text, making you think the field is filled out (BUT IT ISN'T) - and then you MTICMSTR errors when you try to use that part.

Guys - some of these T7 quirks are really getting frustrating.

Add me to the list.  When I need to modify, edit, ammend an existing PO,  I go to another workstation and sign in on DBA Classic.  It is so seamless to process a PO on classic.  EVO is a nightmare for PO's.  I can't even print them after I enter them.  I say no to print PO now and then manually go in and print each one.  I also can't enter a second PO after entering one.  I have to close the screen and PO-A each time.  I think if the PO system would work just like classic from the EVO menu, I would be a happy camper.

Oh well, its not a bug, its a feature.

Our purchasing person keeps calling me to say she can't add notes... or rather that her notes will not print. She can see them, but she prints they are not there and when I go in I can't see them. We finally figured out that she was using the notes in the line item view instead of from the header.  Roll Eyes Why are there line item notes and what are they for?

Oh, and how do you delete a CSN? I made a test note and then deleted it, but it still prints on the PO!

I have to agree as well, that since the 9/16 upgrade - entering po's in Evo is not very productive.  I too use Classic DBA to enter purchase orders.  Don't have the time to mess with entering po's in Evo.

What's even more annoying is that whatever changes have been made to the PO system, when I use BKPOA, I can't print properly at the end of entering a PO - it complains about using the t6 vs. bk rtm file, but no matter which one I pick, it gives me another error.  I can only print from PO-B!  One more set of clicks..............

Just had a slew of complaints this morning from purchasing about the problems encountered entering a PO--duplicate lines, not allowing adding or removing of a line, a bunch of random stuff happening. They just could not successfully get the PO entered, and gave up. They will try again later, but a couple of people who enter POs were working at this and all they could do was scratch their heads.  They all say
this has been a nightmare since I upgraded to the 9/16 version.....

Mike -

You can't use BKPOA in Evo if you want to print.  You need to use T6POA.RUN if you want the old style screen.

OK - I will give T6POA a try, although if I remember, it has some minor quirks also......not nearly as bad as T7POA.  I will be doing an R&D PO later, and will take notes about the things I see.

Actually, I was using T6POA and was getting an error when trying to print at the end of entering a PO.  Had to get out and use PO-B......

HOWEVER...I made a discovery today about the frustration I mentioned at the beginning of the thread (about lines not being saved when entering additional description lines after the item line) - it seems there is an icon at the bottom of the screen that needs to be clicked to have the line!!!! - (opinion here) - Programmers - COME ON - We have all gotten used to just entering down thru a screen and having that screen save.  Now you are making us click an ICON?!?!?  Please!!!!!

(second opinion here) - Those of us who have worked with DBA/EVO for a while realize that it is Primarily a Keyboard centric entering system.  When you make us switch frequently between the keyboard and the mouse, it is very non-productive and frustrating.  (for instance - F2 works for lookups on MOST screens, but there are a few locations where you MUST click on the spyglass icon or it ignores you - annoying.)

I should note that this refers to the T7POA screen.
