Year end - now cannot enter IN-C
01/04/10 at 08:15:47

So I ran the Fiscal Year End routine, and I know it worked, because not only were there all the transactions in  GL-O, but the few 2010 transactions that had been held in Future Trans were allowed to be selected and posted. Also, when I check AM-N the dates all look right - current fiscal year starting 01/01/10, and Current Periods all 2010.

However, when I try to enter an IN-C transaction with today's date I get "Transactions with dates greater than Future Post Date (12/31/09) cannot be posted." and it will not let me proceed. Also, if I back the date up to 12/31/09 I get the standard "This transaction will be posted to a prior fiscal year. Is this OK"....

You have set the "Open period End Date " in AM-A to 12/31/09.  You need to advance it into the new year.

Yup.

Did I interrupt that from happening automatically when I accidentally exited the "Maintain GL Fiscal Periods" without Saving? It DID save, because when I went back in everything was as it should be, but maybe you have to "Save" to complete the Fiscal Year End Routine?

No, the open period start and end dates are manually set and do not automatically update when running AM-B or any other program.  They need to be manually set using AM-A.  You are not the only person who set the Open Period End date to 12/31/09 back when we introduced the option early last year and then completely forgot about it.    I had several calls and emails yesterday for the same issue.

OIC. So I guess the default is 00/00/00. Maybe I'll just go back to that.

Strange thing is that we were allowed GL-K transactions dated after the Period Close Date, and they showed up as Future Transactions in GL-O...

The future date control is in a programming library and not every program that potentially posts to the GL has been recompiled since that option was added so there are a few programs that do not check.  The ones like SO-G that are particularly ugly to correct if posted to a future period all look to the date setting.
