Avg Cost not factoring non-inv locations
03/30/10 at 09:02:10

Perhaps this is what was intended, but is it right? We have a number of non-inventory locations where loaner and demo items reside. Today we processed a WO that came in at a much higher cost than the last time this item was made a couple of months ago. There were none on hand in the main inventory location, but a total of fourteen on hand in other locations. Evo set the Avg Cost to the last cost rather than averaging it in. This resulted in an increase of $49,417.22 in book value when I ran UT-K-G.

Segregated Locations are by definition segregated when new units are placed into stock and average cost is recalculated but there are issues when on hand stock in other locations is at a different unit cost and UT-K-G is run or transfers are made.

We have looked at maintaining Average Cost by Location but every time we get into it, programming complications rear an ugly head.  It is something we need to manage differently for just the reason you describe.
