IN-C and IN-K won't open
01/06/11 at 09:31:29

Using dba classic. Rebooted the server this morning and now one of our two companies will not let us open IN-C or IN-K. So far, all other screens appear fine. We have not made any other changes or updates and it worked fine yesterday. Any advice on what might cause this?

I have a bit more information to add to the above. We are on Update 12/21/08. We are also unable to open WO-G through WO-J or AR-C. At first I thought it was just a problem related to adjusting inventory but apparently AR is also affected. The only change we have made to the system was updating the tax table but that was three days ago.

Finally figured it out. I looked up all the .b files that had been changed this morning and found that there was a BKGLX.B and a BKGLX.^ file. I deleted the BKGLX.^ file and then ran UT-J and MDBFXREG in UT-A. When I tried to go back in to IN-C it gave me a warning error btrieve status 13 that BKGLX.B could not be opened. I then backed up the BKGLX.B file and then reindexed the file in UT-C. This seems to have fixed our problem.

Your problem will soon come back.  The file has exceeded 2 GB in size and reindexing may have packed it slightly below but it will soon surpass 2GB again and the problem will be back.  The file contains data used by System Manager - AI-C & D reports so if you never use those reports you can initialuze the file UT-A, program DBAIF which will delete the file and replace with a new clean empty one.

You should sort your data folder by size and see if you have anything else approaching 2 GB.  If it is not something you can clear, you will need to upgrade to the current Pervasive version which has a setting you can turn on to enable files larger than 2GB

The BKGLX.B file was only 114,000 kb. The entire company file is currently 1.2 gb. Do you think something else could have caused this?
